Lumber

Pine boards are reclaimed from our insect-affected ranch trees. The lumber is cut, stickered and stacked to dry naturally. The blueing in the lumber comes in a variety of patterns all dependent upon how each tree reacts. It puts such a special artistic look to each board. While we typically have 1" and 2" dimensions, custom cuts can be made by special order.

Due to other ranch duties, trees are cut into lumber in the spring and again in the fall. They are usually cut shortly after harvesting and custom cuts need to be ordered early in the season.

We are currently using a newly installed bandsaw mill. The cuts are smoother and more accurate than we've had with the circular saw mill and wider cuts from larger trees are possible.

Blued Pine Lumber

The salvage of dying trees is a process. Dying trees are fell, cut into specialty lumber, stacked with stickers and covered to protect the stacks of lumber from rains and snow. The limbs and debri are cleaned up to prevent the bugs from infecting other trees. A lot of attention is paid to making good cuts that would be perfect for your next project. The lumber is technically rough cut although it is much smoother with the new bandsaw mill. If the timing is good with our regular ranch work, it might be possible to get the lumber planed.

Specialty Lumber

At time we have specialty lumber from logs salvaged from other properties. We have a few slabs from a black walnut tree that died. The black walnut tables made from this tree are quite beautiful.
